I feel like that might hurt me, if they did. What's an acceptable attendance record anyhow?

Attendance is irrelevant. Only academic performance.

The only time attendence is relevent is if you (or your guidence counselor’s recommendation) bring it up because of an illness or family situation that might have had an academic impact. In that case, it’s usually to point out that you’ve faced a challenging situation and, hopefully, handled it well.

It would also be relevant if your attendance was so problematic (repeated unexcused absences, for example) that your guidance counselor mentioned it as a negative element in your recommendation.

If you skipped school in high school for no valid reason, your chances of success in college are minimal. No one will care if you are in class or not. You will be a negative statistic in the college’s freshman retention rate.

This is really good to know actually. My child has missed a chunk school this year for a medical issue. The GPA is fine but I was worried the attendance would make it look like senioritis when that is not the problem. That they don’t care is good news.
