If you apply early decision, will colleges ask to see your grades even though early decision candidates do not fill out the midyear report as part of the application?

They don't see senior grades without the midyear report.

:), which is why I hope I get in ED.

^_^

Some schools, Duke for one, require first quarter grades! Yikes.

Yes...they will ask for a Mid-Year Report, if they need it. Also, if you apply as an ED II candidate, they will see your first term grades. And, they can retract an admissions invitations if you grades slip a lot during your senior year, especially at competitive schools.

Not true as the colleges can and do request the most recent senior year grades for ED students (especially of those who are not recruited athletes as many have already had a pre-read before applying) and will just ask the GC to fax over the grades.

This means the school sees your first marking period report card especially if they are on the fence about a candidate as very few students are considered automatic admits based on their 3 years of high school. Many high schools send them with the GC evaluation/recommendation. This is truly an ask your GC question because the process varies from school to school.

at worse case, ad student is deferred to the RD round or rejected.

Our GC said that first term grades will go over to all the target colleges by email. So there is no escape, my friend!

Ditto what beantowngirl said.
