I'm applying early action to all of my schools. Will they look at my 1st semester senior year grades? Those grades aren't assigned until the end of January and my transcript is being sent in November. I've gotten all A's and 2 B's so far in my high school career, but I currently have a high C in AP Calc. Obviously I'm trying to get that up, but if I do get a C first semester will colleges see that and hold it against me?

agnej99…Eventually, nearly all the schools you apply to will see your senior year grades as you’ll be required to send them a final transcript at the end of the year to confirm that you met all the HS graduation requirements.

As far as them seeing senior grades during the application and admissions process…it depends on the school. If you’re a marginal candidate for admission to a particular school they may very well delay your admissions decision (possibly wait-listing you) and request your first term senior year grades before a final decision is made.

Different schools also have different policies on how senior year grades will affect your admissions decision, but generally one C will not adversely affect your chances. If you have multiple Cs, or any Ds or lower it’s POSSIBLE that a school could rescind your admission. Usually that only occurs when you’re dealing with the Ds or lower problem though.

Also, if you are applying EA or ED they may take first quarter grades depending on how early school starts, but RD applications usually take 1st quarter or 1st semester grades.
