Do colleges see your FAFSA list?

Do they see which other schools you’re applying to?

Do they care that their #5? IE Someone might say Brown is my dream school but puts HYP from 1-3 and Brown at #4.
Would Brown take offense to that?

thx

If schools are not need blind in the financial aid process, then yes they do see the FAFSA information and the list of schools. Schools which are need blind then ususally only the financial aid office sees your FAFSA and the information

Perhaps admissions would see the other schools if the school wasn't needblind (like the above comment said) ... but in the hypothetical situation of Brown, Brown is need blind, so the admissions board wouldn't see it...

Just to be safe with other colleges though, I put my schools in alphabetical order. LOL. I really don't think it matters, but I'm paranoid!

A couple of friends and I were just talking about what order we put the schools on the FAFSA and someone mentioned that they read somewhere that you should always put the most expensive school from your home state first, but couldn't remember why. (He did it anyway). Since he wasn't able to tell us much about it, we just went on with our comparisons. Reading this thread just made me think of it again and I'm wondering if anyone here has ever heard of this?

Philosophia,

My daughter did the same thing last year, just listed everything alphabetically

yes! I'm not alone. Where did your daughter end up going sybie..., I'm just curious. :)

She is a freshman at Dartmouth and loving every moment of it. (I was hoping that she would go to Williams, and cried when I dropped the card in the box to say that she would be going elsewhere)

Philosophia, I put mine in alphabetical oder too "just in case", you never know!

Happy, hmm that's interesting, but I never heard of it either. I wonder if there anything to it?

yeah, I'm have to agree with Fastlane, I've never heard of anything like happygolucky mentioned. I wonder if it's true.

Happygolucky (haha, i love your user name)... But what if you didn't apply to any schools in your home state ... which would you put first?
