Do colleges usually notify before the notifying date?

For example, Washu's notification date is April 1st (on their website)

But I checked Class of 2016 thread and it seems like people got results on March 9th....

My school's semester doesnt end until Feb 10th, so the mid-term report might arrive around Mid-Feb... Isnt this too late for them to review then?

Do most colleges notify before their actual date?

Thanks.

I can’t say for most colleges, but I applied to UConn in early December and I received my acceptance letter today. Their decisions were supposed to come out on March 1st.

If they say their decisions are “rolling” then they will send the letters out as they make their decisions. If they aren’t rolling the college will send all of the letters on the notification date and you will receive it a few days after that depending on how far you are from where you have applied.
