Do colleges verify employment? If so How?

You don't have to file as long as you don't owe any taxes but if you do they will go after you. Howeer, if the government owe you taxes, you loose if you don't file. You have up to 3 years max to get them back. Another point is that in order to contribute to an IRA and such you need to file tax otherwise you can't take advantage of IRAs

Sorry to bump this but I had a question..I had a summer job..but all my forms are in with my parents forms..will they see that?

anybody know?

There are two primary ways they can verify employment:
1. By simply asking the company.
2. By checking your tax forms.

So, if you're thinking about outright lying about employment, don't do it; it's very easy to catch!

No, no i am not lying, but my tax forms aren't separate, so that is why I'm worried

LaLaLa12345: As long as you are being honest, you have nothing to worry about. If colleges require further documentation to prove that you're not lying, they'll ask you; they won't hold it against you.

Ok good that is all I was worried about..because when we send in the tax forms for financial aid..I don't have any seperate ones and I didn't want that to raise a red flag..but as long as the ask before holding it against me, I'll have no problem getting some sort of documentation..
Thank you. :)
