Job Verification

Hey guys! I had a question.

I work for my parents as a cashier for our fast-food restaurant. I've been doing this the past two years or so, with longer shifts during the summer (we're not very rich, so I work to help keep my family afloat). Anyway, I was wondering how colleges verify work experience for students. Do they just take your word for it, or should I prepare certain materials? I'm not on a payroll or anything, so I was curious to how all that would work. My counselor doesn't really know about this either, given my school is big and I'm not too close to her. Should I make it a point for her to bring this up?

Thanks!

Yeah, most likely they won’t challenge it, I wouldn’t worry about it. You can have your parents verify it if your parents are the owners of the restaurant.

I would talk to your counselor though. Because if she talks about it they’ll definitely accept it, plus it is something that shoul dbe in the counselor rec since it’s not only an activity you do, but a very valid reason why you may have less time than other students to participate in other activities.
