Do CSUs look at writing SAT score?

I am interested in applying to SDSU, but on their website I see that to calculate your eligibility index, you just input your english and math SAT scores. I am a bit bummed out, because I received 620 on reading, 630 on math, but on writing I got 730. My weighted GPA is only around 3.5, so I was hoping on the writing SAT score to balance my application out. Is it true that San Diego State only cares about math and reading scores? Is this the same for all Cal State schools?

CSUs only consider the CR and M sections (though they take your individual best section scores, i.e. super score) of the SAT. For the ACT, they recalculate their own super score and do not consider the writing section.

As stated by @ucbalumnus, the Cal states only use SAT Math + CR or ACT composite to calculate your eligibility index. If you are interested in SDSU, you want an EI of around 4100+ SAT/1000+ ACT for the best chances. SLO is the only Cal state that does not use the EI for admission purposes, they use an MCA point score but still only use SAT Math+CR for their calculation.

With a 3.5 and 1250/1600 you are on the bubble for SDSU. (4050 Eligibility Index) It could go either way depending on major and the qualifications of other applicants. Do what you can to raise your index. Another .1 on your GPA or 50 SAT points could make all the difference.

Good luck
