Is it possible to already know if you are a Mylonas, Ervin, Nemerov, etc scholar (not finalist, but an actual scholarship recipient) before everyone else? That is, are ED applicants who apply for scholarships named as scholars before RD applicants? I don't see how this would be possible, seeing as Scholarship Weekend hasn't happened yet. Or is there a separate Scholarship Weekend for ED kids?

I’m pretty sure that all scholarship recipients are notified at the same time, like the finalist notification, which was around late February/early March this year. There is only one Scholarship Weekend, and I think scholarship winners are contacted a few days after that (around April 1 - but not positive on this!).

No advantage for EDers. If anything, there could be a disadvantage because EDers are already committed and Wash U doesn’t need to offer them a merit scholarship to attract them to accept.

All Merit Scholarships are award at the same time. They are after your interview and they will contact you shortly afterward.

Thanks for your responses. I saw on WashU’s scholarship page that academic scholarships “are not awarded until after the Early Decision commitment date.” When is the ED commitment date?

The ED commitment date is the deadline for accepted ED applicants to accept their offers of admission and send in their deposits. It was around the end of December. Basically, the purpose of that message is to make ED applicants aware that they will be committing to the school long before they find out the results for merit scholarships.

Oh okay, thanks nina1228. The reason I asked is because I heard someone say they’ve been awarded a scholarship already. I was highly skeptical, since scholarship weekend isn’t until next week, and they won’t be awarded until the week after. I guess that means that person was lying.
