i can't find anything in the GE requirements or the major prep about mandatory math classes. so does that mean i'm off the hook?

you're in the college of letters and science, so while GE's don't require math and your major doesn't either, the college does.
the good news: most people can fulfill the "quantitative reasoning" requirement in high school, say with AP Calc, AP Stats, AP Computer Science AB, etc etc, or with certain SAT scores.

"In the College of Letters and Science, students must demonstrate basic skills in quantitative reasoning. All courses taken to satisfy the quantitative reasoning requirement must be completed with a grade of Passed or C or better. The quantitative reasoning requirement can be satisfied by achieving an SAT I mathematics score of 600 or better, an SAT II Subject Test in Mathematics score of 550 or better, or by completing one of the following courses: Anthropology M80, Biostatistics 100A, 100B, Geography M40, Mathematics 2 (or any higher numbered course except 38A, 38B, and 38C), Philosophy 31, Political Science 6, 6R, Program in Computing 10A, 10B, 10C, Sociology M18, Statistics 10, 10A, 10H, 11, M12, 13, 14."

stats 10 is an easy math class if needed.

^ heck yes!
with professor davis, she's the best :)

Stats 10 is the difficulty of a high school course; a dilligent 8th grader could possibly get an A in this course.

which is my point entirely. :)

especially because i AM a n. campus major and math is totally not something ive ever loved, i can definitely recommend it to an english major who really isn't looking forward to math.

thanks for the replies. i meet the SAT requirements so i guess i won't have to take any math classes. giddy me ;)
