Do High Schools know whether you are accepted into a college or not?

I was just wondering whether High Schools are told who got accepted and who didn't.

I think they are sent notifications.

My experience with my boys has been that the GC generally heard from a good number of the schools that the students applied to…it’s part and parcel of a GCs relationship with the colleges. Often an admissions rep will call a GC to discuss student(s) who have applied, and then later will let the GC know the results of the applications from the high school.

That’s not to say that the GC hears from every college or university…but there is no way of predicting which schools any particular GC will hear from.

Every year there are stories of a high school student being humiliated by saying s/he got in to a particular college when s/he really didn’t, and then word of the truth gets out…

It’s better to just talk up the amazing acceptances you did receive, and the wonderful, special opportunities of the schools you are considering.
