So, I'm a current sophomore at Cornell, and I am wondering if I even have a chance at IB out of undergrad. I currently have around a 3.8 gpa and expect to end somewhere close to that in the AEM school. My main problem right now is work experience. I have experience...as a waiter/lifeguard. I also worked for my dad's reinsurance company last year (mostly clerical stuff but some accounting). Any ideas what I should do now to increase my chances of getting IB? How will I find a summer internship with such a weak resume (I need a paid internship)? I am a good interviewer, but that can only do so much.

Here’s the bottom line: You attend a strong school and have a solid GPA. You are still young - networking and join some clubs (ideally in a leadership type of position). Once you land your first internship, which doesn’t have to be IB - here are some other [url=http://www.bankonbanking.com/2010/03/15/no-summer-analyst-ib-offer-–-is-life-over/internship options to set you up for a SA IB offer. Once you polish your resume and build some contacts, you should be in good shape to break into IB as a junior (and possibly a soph with boutiques) and then pursue FT opps.
