I came to American 2009 summer. really low ACT score, great essay, decent E/Cs… do u guys think I even have a chance of getting in??

Yea because I’m a citizen in south Korea. Everyone who has a citizenship other than US is considered as international applicant. So what’s ur opinion about my stuff? :P

I have citizenship in 3 countries but applied as a U.S. applicant. Having citizenship in another country does not automatically make you an international applicant. I asked how you applied because your chances will go down significantly as an international applicant. Brown (and schools in general) accept a much smaller percentage of international applicants and they are generally a very strong/unique pool to begin with.

What were your essays about? (I hope beatboxing!)

As an international applicant I’d say your chances are extremely slim to none. As a traditional applicant you’re probably a high reach. Your ACT, unfortunately, isn’t doing you any favors, but your olympiad gold metals are a definite plus!

A 27 is not bad. The range for brown act is 28-32, so you are close; yes, they do super score. Don’t let your scores curtail you from applying. Your extracurriculars are good; Your GPA is also not bad. Brown looks at candidates holistically.

honkeytonk// thanks for the reply ! I really appreciate your posts. So, I didn’t ‘submit’ my application yet, and I think I should make sure rather I’m international applicant or not. Can I ask you what kinds of citizenships u have? n also, for my essay, I wrote about my childhood memory at Brown University :)

I applied to UM(A2), Georgetown, Notre Dame, Northwestern // Early Admissions,
I’m going to apply some safety schools, Brown, NYUAD, Emory, etc
what about you?

Anne// Thanks for ur post I’m taking december’s test and aiming for 31! I really hope I can get over a 30. I’m doing another math competition, volunteering, and working … hope these experiences can help me. I’m glad my score isn’t super super low … seems it’s low … lol
btw, where did u apply ?

no SAT IIs? Brown requires two SAT subject tests.
ACT 27 is much too low, especially because you’re international (like me, unfortunately), but your ECs/contests look very good

Want to chance me real quick?
