Do I even have a shot at first say UCB or UCLA or USC, and then maybe some universities like Stanford, Yale, or UChicago? Any advice? I know my ECs and test scores are low, but I've never really had anyone to guide me. I thought if I just work hard in school I would be fine. That is why I only did what I love, tennis and science Olympiad. Didn't know about the SAT until May and then took it in June.

I've always been optimistic. "Apply and see what happens" I told myself. I'm just feeling a bit discouraged because I did not get matched through Questbridge.

UCB, USC, and UCLA are matches. The other three schools are high matches to low reaches, definitely not impossible. Good luck and please chance me back!http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1583747-please-chance-my-list-colleges-updated-list.html

Oh and definitely don’t submit your 2nd ACT and probably not even the SAT. Just submit the 33.

Don’t be discouraged. Only 440 of 4700? finalists were matched. You’ll clean up in ED and RD. Just wait and see. :)

As I read through your app, you have no shot. I’m just so sorry.
But you’re not Native American. “Apply and see what happens”?
Come on man. you gotta love the school. you have to want it.
English teacher liked your essay? why not love it?

Let me just tell you 1 quick step to getting into those colleges.
Be Native American.

^
Pacific islander is also very useful.

To be frank, I don’t understand why the first poster said that you’re a high match for Stanford, Yale, or UChicago. Those schools are reaches for people with even better awards, test scores, and ecs and on top of that you’re applying from california, one of the more competitive states.

I’d say that the UCs are definitely matches but the other 3 (Stanford, Yale, UChicago) are all mid to high reaches.

Best of luck
but as Lichen says, if you can become native american in the next few months, you’re a sure shot everywhere!

@lichen2347 and tips1660
I’ll let you two know first if I suddenly do become Native American.

Berkeley: Match
UCLA: Match
USC: Match
Stanford: Reach
Yale: Reach
U Chicago: Reach (pay attention to the essay prompts)

I agree with @catria and @tips1660; Stanford, Yale, And UChicago are reaches for everyone, but really focus on making your essays amazing. Only submit the 33 ACT and SAT II scores, which are both very strong. You have impressive stats and decent EC’s; I really can’t see you not getting into UCB, UCLA, and USC. Good luck! Chance back please?

Would it hurt my chances to send the SAT I, because I already sent it along with the subject test I took in November?

Pay attention to your essays for each one of those schools.
UCB, UCLA, USC should be matches, and add UCSD too for good measure.
The others are reaches for everyone so perhaps you’ll be lucky, perhaps not.

Did you send the ACT along with the SATI? If so, not it won’t hurt your chances, they’ll pick the highest score.

@MYOS1634 yes I sent the ACT along with the SAT

I also forwarded my Questbridge App to MIT Early Action. How are my chances for MIT? I know I may not have the best scores in reading comp, but I believe my love of science and math shines though; isn’t that what MIT looks for?

MIT looks for Native Americans, bro, especially ones who LOVE math and science. honestly, if you go to MIT, everyone will most likely love math and science and will be top tier students in those subjects. So MIT’s not going to go like “Wow, this student likes math/science!” He’s in.
If you’re native american, maybe, but without it, you need to shine elsewhere, like ECs
