Yes. You should email the Brown field hockey right away, they are probably finishing up their recruiting for next year right now.

Don’t limit yourself to one university, email coaches at several schools.

Good luck, you have a decent chance.

FYI, we just went through the recruiting process with my daughter and field hockey
so we have some experience with this.

This is a male field hockey player! Does Brown have a male FH team? (very few US schools do. I thought only in California.) There is a US male national field hockey team that might be interested in you, if internationals are allowed. A friend of mine’s son is on it (never played FH, but did soccer, lacrosse and ice hockey in HS.) They had him train with the women’s team at his college and fly him around the US for games. Brown’s women’s coach would still be a great contact as they would probably love to have you work with /help the team, assuming that there is not a guys team.
Your academic stats look in line, and you have interesting EC and come from “underrepresented” country, so I would say to definitely give Brown an application try.

Whoops, didn’t realize it was a guy Field Hockey player…never mind…sorry.

So you know, you apply to Brown rather than to the IR program (though there’s a spot to write about what concentration you want to pursue).

There’s a lot here, but what you need to think about and make clear is…why are you a good fit for Brown, and why is Brown the best school for you? Since Brown gets to choose between so many excellent applicants, they get to be picky about who to choose, and that’s very important to them.

Hey there again,

Thank you for the advices, I’ll try to follow them even though I have the opinion the field hockey thing won’t tip the scales for my Brown application. Still I might contact the Brown’s woman’s coach in order to get information concerning the participation of a male field hockey player at the team in some form of an Assistant Coach (Thank’s BrownAlumnParent)
What I will be focussing now on, even though time is passing rapidly, are the social aspects of my Ec’s.

Once again thank You very much for your competent answers, I’m definetely going to apply for the Class of 2015.

Cheers from Germany

P.S. Sorry for the spelling misstake in the headline; I was typing too fast and didn’t realise that I wouldn’t be able to correct it.

You’ll stand a good chance to be admitted into Brown. Your SATs are high and so are your SAT IIs; however, a 3.8 gpa is just okay. Your ECs are spectacular too.

Best Wishes,

atulS

Thank you very much for your wishes, but still I do have another question about the Sat Subject Test which doesn’t really affect the content but my application to Brown. Due to the fact that I will be taking Sat Regular in November and the Subject’s at the beginning of December I fear that I won’t be able to get the results before January 1st. Will it affect my application if I hand in my results two or three weeks after deadline?

Cheers from Germany

Wilhelm

I believe it’s ok to have the scores sent a little after Jan 1st, but check the Brown website. I know they specifically mention this.
