<p>In some cases, the answer is YES.</p>
<p>You need to read the websites carefully for each college/university you are looking at. Some have deadlines for particular scholarships that are earlier than the absolute deadline for application. </p>
<p>Some schools that have rolling admissions hand out need-based aid on a first-come-first-served basis. Students who have applied and been accepted earlier end up with more scholarships and work study, and students who apply and are accepted later end up with more loans because the scholarship money has just plain run out.</p>
<p>If you have your list, pick up the phone and call them and ask.</p>
