So I’m a high school senior and currently my overall GPA is a 2.55, unweighted it’s around 2.4. I know I messed up high school big time and have only really taken it seriously this year, and I know I can’t guarantee getting in anywhere. My SAT was a 1780 and I’ve taken 5 Honors and 1 AP class. I plan on majoring in film (If that helps). What sucks is that by the end of this semester I should have a 3.0, but I’m not sure if CSU’s will see. Anyways, I applied to CSUF (local area), CSULB, CSUCI, CSUN, CSUC, SJSU, SDSU, and SFSU as in-state. I honestly don’t know if I have a chance of getting in to any since almost no one has such a low GPA. I guess my question is, was it worth it for me to apply, or is it almost guaranteed I won’t be admitted anywhere?
Dumb question but I’m so clueless on the whole process, thanks
You need to calculate your Eligibility index: (CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + CR). CSU’s will rank applicants based on their EI and major and accept starting from the top down.
CSU’s will not take your Senior grades into consideration for admissions but many will ask for your Mid-year transcript after being accepted to make sure you are on-track.
Much will depend on your major but based off your GPA and SAT scores, this is how I will chance you.
CSUCI: In
SFSU/CSUN: Maybe (depends upon major)
CSUC (is Chico??) No
CSUF: Maybe (depends upon major since you are local)
SJSU: Depends upon major and you can look up how your EI compares on this link:

CSULB/SDSU: NO
PM me if you have any specific questions and post your EI.
You won’t have much of a chance at most decent/ok unis. If your state schools deny you admission, go to community college and transfer somewhere.
Going to community college for a couple years will help you get into a better college than you would now. Community college has negative stigma attached to it, but it really is a good path, and can be much more beneficial than if you went to some low tier university.
