Hey, I am new to college confidential and am wondering if you guys think I have a shot at being admitted to Princeton. I don't have the most AP's and Honor's courses as most applications, but my SAT and life labor throughout high school might make up for it?
Anyways, here is what I am looking at:
SAT
730 Math
780 CR
710 Writing
ACT
32
Unweighted GPA: 3.5
Weighted: 3.9
I am currently taking 6 AP's as a senior in high school, I will explain a bit later why I am taking 6 this year.
AP Stat
AP Psych
Ap Econ
AP Bio
AP Calc AB
I am taking AP Lit online because I don't have room in my schedule for it during school.
Since Freshman year, I started an Invisible Children's club and raised over $5,000 USD for children in Uganda. I also have worked full time since freshman year, which is the reason for my lower GPA/no Honors courses. I also have done volunteer work for four years at Hospitals and Charity centers in Atlanta. Is it even worth me applying? Or should I just stay in state?

you have a great chance, but it's princeton, so you're up against a bajillion other people who have great chances too.

i just found it amazing that you raised over 5000 USD for Invisible Children. i'm in a club that also raises money for organizations like invisible children. it was almost one of our causes last year, but we ended up picking something else. we raised about 10k. it was pretty sweet. i love meeting other people who are really into this too!!

your gpa is a bit on the low side, but considering your circumstances i can understand. the truth is that princeton is a reach for everyone, no matter how good they are. there is no way to predict acceptance. my advice is to highlight your work as a volunteer and worker and write a truthful honest essay about yourself and get some pretty good recs and you should have a good shot.

Thanks for the support and feedback.

its in the hands of essays and recs.

Be sure to fully explain your job: the hours, the reasons it was necessary, what your responsibilities were. It can be a big boost if it was economically necessary for your family, and supported by your financial aid forms.
