Do I have a chance at getting into Barnard ED?

Hello everyone,
I am an international student and I intend to apply to Barnard College. I am currently a senior and I got into Hult Business school (as they are test optional). So in september I’ll be attending Hult; i will nevertheless apply to other colleges (Yale, Barnard, GWU etc) as they would consider me a freshman (even when already enrolled in college as long as they don’t have more than n transferable credits -depending on the college).
What do you think of Hult’s BBA?
I am taking the SAT on may. The first time, without knowing anything about the exam I scored a 1180, and I studied pretty hard since December so I expect a 1320 or so this time.
In my highschool (French highschool) we only have unweighted GPA and I have the equivalent of 4.0 unweighted.
Is it a disadvantage that in my highschool we don’t have AP classes or IB?
Anyway, about extracurricular activities, well, in my highschool we don’t have lots of associations so, as my counselor wrote in his recommendation, I am enrolled in every club/association. But basically the important ones are HeForShe  (feminist “club” created by the UN): I organized a fund-raiser ball for abused women, and organized a clothes collect for women raising their children alone, and my participation in MUN’s.
I have won the 3rd place in a public speaking contest organised by a highly rated university in my country.
I have also been riding horses and show jumping for 7 years, swimming for over 10 years, and learned the guitar all alone.
I am fluent in Arabic, French and English and I have a pretty good level in Italian.
Intended major: Political science (minor: econ? Philosophy?)
Do you think I have a chance at getting into Barnard College, knowing that I will be applying for financial aid ? (I have a cousin enrolled there)
Do you know any safety schools for Barnard? (I already plan to send my application to Bryn Mawr)
Thank you!
PS: I’m applying ED to Barnard

A 1320 SAT is low for Barnard. They also do not offer undergraduate business.

Intended major: Political science (minor: econ? Philosophy?). It was written above

Barnard is need-aware for international admissions – so applying while needing financial aid is a strike against you.

But if it is a clear first choice for you, then there is no harm in applying - the worst that happens is that you get turned down, but that is also the result if you don’t apply. Your chances might be better at GWU, but they don’t promise to meet full need of admitted students – so a higher chance that you won’t be able to afford the school even if you do get in.

I’m not sure if you are correct about your ability to apply as a first-year while enrolled in a different college. You would definitely want to verify that with an admissions officer before applying.

It is indeed my first choice. I’m also applying to GWU but it isn’t at all a safety, so do you know any safety schools similar in a way to Barnard with good pol sci program?

I still have the quote from the website of Barnard college : "Requirements for Transfer Students

A student admitted to Barnard with fewer than 24 points of credit is considered a first-year student and is subject to all requirements for first-year students, including First-Year Seminar. A student admitted with 24 credits or more is considered a transfer student. "

Have I misunderstood it ?

You have some unique qualities. If I were you I would really play up your multilingualism as well as your feminist initiatives. Work hard for an improved SAT score, and work REALLY HARD on your essays. Good luck

Thank you! I have already written my personal statement and drafts of the other two essays ?

A good safety is Agnes Scott College which is located in Atlanta, Georgia. They have large merit scholarships based on stats, is a women’s college (can cross register at Georgia Tech, Emory, Spelman, etc.), and every first year has the ability to study abroad in a various amount of locations as a way to become globalized leaders.

Also, I had a 1200 sat which is way lower than yours, and I was waitlisted. Scores don’t break you at a school like Barnard. Show them your uniqueness and your passion(s)!!

I’ll check this college, thank you!
I hope you’ll get in… btw does it bother you if you gave me your Facebook/Instagram/Snapchat so that we could talk a little more specifically about my application?
Thank you again

I don’t know – since that is on the page “Requirements for Transfer Students”, I would not know whether that means that you should apply as a first year, or whether it means that you should apply as a transfer but if you have less than 24 transferable credits you will be enrolled as a first year (assuming acceptance).

Why don’t you just email the Barnard admissions department and ask?

If you were admitted ED, would you drop out of Hult after your first semester? If you complete a full academic year at Hult, wouldn’t you end up with closer to 30 units?

Ok I will email them thanks.
I would drop out of Hukt after the first semester, and I would therefore only have 15 credits

@InesBaz Not at all! PM me and I’ll share

I am new here, how can I PM you??
