I've never done any film related work but I definitely have dreamed of it for a long time (that and modeling). Also, if I sent in a film of myself for the portfolio, it would probably be done on my laptop or digital camera..is that okay? I don't know how else i would do it...? any suggestions? Right now, I'm currently a science major at berkeley so I want to see if i'd get in as a transfer.

Hey!
I’m in Film and TV this year as a Freshman, so I don’t know much about transferring but I can try to answer your first question.
Other than some school projects done with the video setting on my camera, I didn’t have much experience with film-making, so ended up opting for the photograph option for the portfolio.
I think that as long as you are able to tell a story/seem to have a good feel for aesthetics, you’ll be considered, no matter if the quality of your equipment or your experience is limited (I mean, they can’t expect students to have access to any of that fancy stuff yet).

As a transfer, I would see if UCB has some sort of video camera rental that you can do. Check the film department or studio art or something. TRANSFERRING into Film/TV is much more competitive than just applying as a freshman. There are not that many spots for Tisch transfers, so every aspect of your application matters a lot.

that is pretty ballsy. I mean, not only would be transferring across the country, you would be doing a complete 180 with regards to what you are studying. What if you end up not liking movie making?
