Do I have a chance for MIT with a 760 in math in SAT 1 but a 800 in the math SAT 2?

I want to apply for top colleges like MIT, Stanford and major in STEM areas. I took the SAT 2 math and got 800 but messed the SAT 1 up and got only a 760. does the 800 in the subject test make up for this or should I retake? :frowning:

You probably only got two questions wrong on the SAT 1 math section. I wouldn’t sweat it if I were you. Btw, you could have probably gotten up to 9 wrong on the SAT 2 math and still gotten an 800, so “perfect” isn’t really always perfect. 760 is fine, especially with an 800 on the math 2.

Focus on the other parts of your application, the test score is fine. These schools do holistic admissions so the rest of the application is very important once you meet the GPA and test score requirements.
