Do I have a chance for Northwestern?? Will Chance Back!

I know some of you have already chanced but this is for other people. I am a rising senior, and I am a IB student. African American Male First generation to go to college
GPA UW: 3.3 (i know this is low and I will bring this up definitely)
GPA W: 4.3
SAT: 2210 (800 W 710 M 700 CR)
ACT: I plan to take
I plan to take SAT Subject Biology, Chemistry, Math (1/2) and World History
My senior courseload will be AP/IB Biology, Chemistry, Calculus BC, Statistics, IB Euro History, AP Lit, Latin, Micro/Macro Economics.
ECs include being the president of the medical club, members of science, history, math, and latin honor societies (includes regular nhs). I was treasurer for latin club and competed and got first place in the nation in latin and greek derivatives. I am currently doing research that deals with CDKs and developing a anti-tumor drug model and a project that ties with cell signaling. I am trying to get connected with universities and possibly get recs from them. I am looking at emory and MA general hospital as places for collaborating with. I plan to publish this research as well. In addition, I am writing a paper on systems biology and planning to publish it. I am a member of my county's public health committee and am working on a county wide project. I am an editor for the philosophy section of my school's literary section.
I need to know because if I dont have a chance I wont even bother applying. Thanks as always.

GPA looks a little low, and I don’t understand how your weighted GPA is so much higher. That said, considering your status as an URM, and First Gen, as well as some fantastic activities, I would consider Northwestern a high match, which you have a really good shot of getting into.

So yes, I think you have a chance. (So bother applying  ) Are you considering ED? If it’s your top choice, I think an applicant like you could really benefit from it.

Yeah, I know about the weighted GPA. I’m not sure what’s my school district’s system of calculating weighted GPAs. Thanks for the input.

Despite the GPA being a little low your EC’s are absolutely fantastic. If you’re looking at medicine as a career option, it might be worth taking a look at the combined BS/MD programs out there. I know they love research such as the stuff you are doing.

I would say your main goal is to write fantastic essays. How was the grade trend? That could help or hurt. It’s going to be a little iffy, but I think you have a shot.

Chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1528232-chances-georgia-tech-uga-georgia-state.html

As of now, grades can only help you so much (maybe IB program weights heavily?idk) but focus on making everything else stand out. Your essays and reccomendations might be the deciding factor for you so reall polish those up and make them tip-top. Your ECs look fantastic so keep those up!!

Your EC’s look pretty good, and will show colleges you have an interest in pursuing a career in that field, yes your GPA is a bit low for Northwestern, but you have a good SAT and a rigorous course schedule. You should apply early decision to Northwestern, and I would say a low reach.
Note: If you apply ED there, you have to attend, and pay the tuition.
Chance back?

HI!! It’s nice to see people in the same boat as me! Northwestern is one of my top choices!

I think you do have a chance. You should explain your GPA dip. Get that up to a 3.5 and you will be great! Your ECs seem pretty amazing. You have passion. Show it in your essay. Do ED!! Plus e-mail NU admission officers. Let them know that you’re interested. It actually is a big deal. I’ve bonded with my region admission officer–and trust me, connections are a big deal.

I think it’s a medium reach.
I’m in the same boat as you so good luck!!

Chance me back!

I think you have a great chance for Northwestern. Your activities look great and your SAT is strong. Your background will play a factor as well. Early Decision might be a good option for you.
