I am becoming more and more interested in this university. Does anyone think I stand a chance if i submit an application sometime this week? Is it worth it?

GPA: 3.9375 UW 4.25 W
Rank:7% of 530 students or so
ACT:25
Essays,All Recommendations:Awesome
EC:One sport(track, 2 yrs), a lot of clubs(vice president of student council,nhs member,key club member,etc.), 500+ community service
Only one AP class but about ten Honors
White
Out of State-MI

With so few APs, it does seem like Pitt would be a reach for you. I would still apply this week though. Your GPA is good, and your ACT is decent as well. Your rank should help seal the deal…

Good luck! And apply before no more spots are left!

It really depends on how many APs the OP’s school offers. If the OP is taking the only AP offered in the school and all the honors classes then it won’t be a problem.

The GPA/rank is very strong, but the ACT would hurt.

Realistically, if you apply now with a 26 ACT score, you are at risk with a deferral to a branch campus. I don’t get why they don’t focus on AP classes & exams. They are truthfully more relevant to first-year success in college than those pointless SAT/ACTs. Anyways, give it a shot. It can depend on your major and remember that admissions is rolling. So first-come, first serve. Please do the essay! It is my best advice to you. You probably can’t change your ACT score, but pray that Pitt’s unorganized arrogant admissions office won’t reject you because you sound like a well-rounded, capable student.
