Do i have a chance in U Chicago, or even the IVIES????

I am really sorry for the long story that i wrote... But PLEASE take the time to read it and post your opinions... please... Thanks.

Im a junior, and i came to US (california) for High School education. I was born in the States, moved to South Korea when i was 2. And I moved to Fiji Islands when i was 11 and went to a local middle school in one of the villages (long story short, my parents moved to help out under-priviledged people in villages in Fiji--third world nation).
I came to States, and am living only with my older sister who is a college student. I had to learn how to speak and write english, but i adjusted well in a few months.

I have got straight As since freshmen year, and am taking considerably rigorous courses this year. i only took one honors (english honors) in sophomore year.
APUSH-A
Lit Honors-A
AP Art Hist-A
AP Bio-A
Precalc-A
Spanish 3-A
Also, Im taking 2 classes (Psych 1A, Sociology 1) at a community college to boost my GPA. And I have As in both classes as well.
I am also planning to take 6 APs in senior year.

I also have considerable amount of ECs:
track-4 years
Guitar club- 3years member, president (as junior)
CSF, NHS
prasie leader
leader in a youth group
Started guitar lessen camp (MYT) in a local county in summer. (Sophomore year)
250+ hours volunteer in Costa Rica. (Sophomore year)

and 2000+ total hours volunteer in Nakama village (in Fiji). I went to volunteer during summer 1000 hours (freshmen year), and am planning to volunteer in the same region this coming summer (1000+ hrs).
freshmen year:
-I helped build facilities (wells, houses,)
-Helped the locals with farming, selling crops (took the crops and played guitar and gained attention on saturdays at the local market. It was a lot of fun ^^)
-began guitar lesson camp (MYT) for the locals (some of them never saw an actual guitar... i brought 2, and had to ship 2 more to actually start the lesson). I later implemented this program in my local county the following summer (sophmore year).
-did tutoring sessions for math and english--free.
-volunteered for free medical checkups which was led by an int organization (once every month thini.)
-helped out at a local church-prasie leader

this year, I am planning to the the same.
And also start an actual afternoon class at the local highschool. (they still go to school in june, july, august, since its winter in southern hemisphere--no summer vacation).
I am planning to get the confirmation from the principal (i know her personally).
I am planning to start some basic classes such as:
-math (algebra)
-English (basic grammer, and read a novel, (of mice and men), and an essay)
And ill do the same volunteer stuffs that i did in freshmen year.

I am pretty sure that i have a good amount of EC and volunteer hours, but one problem for me is the low SAT score.
I got a 2020 in march SAT..-___- (i usually got 2150-2200 in practice tests).
I am sure that i will raise it to at least 2150 by june tihs year. im hoping for 2250 tho.

So with my Stats, do i have a chance in U Chicago (i luv this school) or even ivies?

4.0 unweighted, 4.45ish GPA (including college classes). And it will go up by senior year.
SAT 2150+ (guarantee)
Great EC/volunteer
Parent income-0 dollars. (we live on minimum income level--my grandpa supports me).
living with sister currently.
living by myself in senior year (my sis moving to S Korea this summer for job).
and also, i came to the states 3 years ago--for better education... i had to learn english very quickly.

What you guys think? Do i have a chance...? Once again, sorry for a super long long long writing... BUt i really want an answer... kinda depressed cuz my numbers (SATs, GPA) is sooo low compared to many students at my school... -__- we have a lot of 2350 people with 6,7 APs at my school.

oh yeah, btw, im planning to take SAT IIs this may. (US hist, bio). and I got 800 in Korean last year lolol. I speak, write better in korean than in english… so… yeah. ^^
i am pretty confident that ill get 770+ in SAT IIs.

… anyone… plz it would be awesome if you could comment… i know its very very long, but it would be great if you guys could take the time to read it and leave your opinions.

I’m in no position to judge you/chance you being a HS senior myself, but WOW! What a story. You have a chance to write some killer essays. I feel like you’re the type of person Ivies look for–super smart with good test scores (a 2020 is NOT bad) plus SUPER unique. I’d say definitely at UChicago, one of my older friends goes there and not to offend her or anything but she wasn’t really anything special lol, just really smart  But anyway you are a really impressive person, starting all those things! What initiative! I wish I knew you! haha. Good luck :)

thanks a lot momomomo~! i feel a little better after reading your post~! ^^

You have such a good chance of getting in! A 4.0-4.5 GPA is nothing to scoff at and rather to be smiled at (: Your story is amazing and I hope you figure things out!!!

With a beast essay, I COULD see acceptances from one or more of HYPMS schools. You are an extremely unique, well qualified applicant and your low (by top ten standards) are brought up by your outstanding extracurriculars.

This guy did nt study in English until 7th grade.

thanks guys.

You’re the kind of passionate, ambitious applicant the top schools are looking for. You’ll have plenty to write about and talk about, and the fact that you’ve fairly successfully overcome the language barrier so quickly is amazing. If you can get your SAT to a 2200+, you’ll have a good chance at even the Ivies, and a 2300+ would basically get you in for sure. I realize how random Ivy admissions are, but if you can properly tell your life story, I don’t see any reason the top schools wouldn’t let you in.

oh my gosh. your into any school you can apply to, i pretty much garuntee that… over 2000 hours of community serivice is insane!! good for you!!! just work on the test scores

Take a lot of time to make your essays perfect, and you will have an excellent shot!
