Do I have a chance of getting into a top-ranked college with 2 B's?

Hi!

I'm stressing out right now because midterms just ended, and I finished with 2 B's (both in AP classes)? I'm a Junior now, and I haven't gotten a B until now. Should I even think I can still get accepted to top-ranked schools like UC Berkeley, UCLA Columbia, Vanderbilt, or Norte Dame?

I do have extra-curricular activities (2-year varsity soccer, Key Club VP, Student Council, Ambassadors Program, DECA, and CYO). Will that be enough to compensate for a few B's, because I'm pretty sure now I'll be getting a few more...

Does your school weight your ap classes? Colleges look at the course rigor. Two b’s in ap classes is not as bad as two b’s in a regular class. I know someone who got into vanderbilt and he had a couple b’s. but his course load was very heavy in ap classes, especially math and science. A great sat or act score would help you also. Your ec’s are good, hoe about some community service? Also the summer after your junior year is an excellent time to do camps at some prospective schools. You get to experience the school and they get to know you. I did three last year, I had to apply and was admitted to all three. I would check into that also. How many ap classes are you taking?

Relax. A few B’s won’t matter, as long as the rest of your application, particularly scores and ND specific essays, is strong.

My school does have weighted grades. We actually a Blue Ribbon school!

Before my 2 B’s, I had a 4.3 GPA– but I haven’t gotten to calculating my new one.

I only took AP World History my sophomore year, and now I’m taking three, kind of four: Micro/Macro Econ (one per sem), APUSH, and AP Lang. I got my two B’s from Micro and APUSH.

Key Club is my club for community service, as well as CYO (Catholic Youth Organization).

I’m taking my SAT’s this march, but I’ve never been a good test taker…
