A Few B's

I'm currently a HS junior and am starting to think about which colleges I should aim at, what are my chances, etc. However, after hearing some stories from all sorts of places, I'm kind of worried about which colleges I might have a chance in.

What's basically the case is that although all my currently classes (junior year) are AP classes, and I get A's in most of them, there's a few B+'s that stand out. For example, due to a tough teacher, I ended up with a B+ in my Multivariable Calculus class. Also, in both AP European History and AP US History, I have solid B's because of my lack of skill in those subjects. I do plan to keep on continuing with this trend throughout my senior year.

I was wondering how badly these might impact my chances in getting into a top-level college. Eg. do I still have a fairly good chance in getting into the likes of MIT, CalTech, Stanford, and the ivies, or should I aim at something lower?

The main problem here is that I have absolutely NO extracurriculars due to lack of interest. Despite wanting to go to some of the top colleges, I'm willing to take a community college over participating in some EC that I hate.

So, the question is: do I have anything to be worrying about? Will a few B's here and there in a field of A's be a big problem if all my courses are honors, etc.?

I think not having ECs will hurt you more than having a few B's. But hey, thats just one opinion.

A few Bs dont mean anything if you take into consideration the transcript as a whole. This includes courseload, pursuing courses that you are specifically interested in outside of the core (eg Computers or multiple science classes) and all the classes you got As in!

Oh wow, a B+ in multivariable calculus? That's a tragedy. end sarcasm

I'm sorry, it's late at night, I'm tired, and I don't get physics. So I'm bitter. But in all seriousness, I would kill for your grades (and classes...mv calc as a junior?). So don't stress over it, you'll be fine.

Seconded, it will be a big sore spot in your apps to the likes of Stanford and MIT. Everyone who applies to those schools has great academics, but what differentiates applicants is the E.C's.
