Do I have a chance to get in? PLEASE RESPOND

Hello,

I am currently an Indian sophomore at a High School in California. I am currently finishing this semester with either a 3.7 or a 3.5 GPA depending on my finals. I am most likely going to finish my sophomore year strong with a 4.0 GPA because I am more focused now. I plan to get either a 4.1 or 4.2GPA my junior year. I have not taken my SAT yet but I expect a 1900 - 2100 at least because I am a great test taker. I also took the Pre-ACT at my school and I am awaiting results.

As for my background and extra activities, I am apart of leadership since I was a freshman, and I plan to take it until the end of high school. I am also going to run for treasurer of my junior class next year. I am also a DJ and I DJ and clubs, parties, wedding and corporate events all over the bay area so I have great people skills. By the time my Junior year ends, I will also have over 360+ hours of community service. I am also on the Varsity Mens Tennis team since I was a freshman. In addition to all this, I am apart of the AcaDeca competition team at my school, and after my junior year I will be eligible for 8 CSU course credits, or something like that. I am also apart of the Best Buddies Club, where we help and assist the kids with special needs. I also plan to start a programming club next year where students can learn about programming Java and C++. In addition, I am currently working on designing a MMORPG (Massive Mulit-player Online Role Playing Game) with my friend and we hope for it to be public by next February with over 5,000 starting members.

As for my major, I either want to do Psychology, Neurology, or Computer Science/Engineering.

Please, let me know if I have a chance at getting into UCSB and please recommend any other UC's (UCSC, UCI, UCLA, UCB, UCD) that I may have a chance at. Also, my sister is currently a freshmen at UC Davis, so will I have a chance of going there because she got in?

Thanks,

Bobwont, since you’re a sophomore it’s very hard to say. A lot of things can change in two years, both your ability and the UC system’s ability to accept students. it seems like you’re gaucho material since you already have such strong interest and is already posting on this forum. Keep your grades up and do more computer related activities if you really want to do computer engineering. The engineering college is very impacted as is other schools in the UC. That being said, a friend of mine got into UCSC engineering with a 3.0 GPA and only having taken up to Adv. Alg with Trig. UCI, UCLA, UCB, and UCD all have superb computer engineering programs. PM me if you need help with anything

Best of luck

you do have a chance if you maintain what you say!

Calm down seriously you have time. UCs say they care about ECs but they don’t. My advice focus on one or two ECs and do them well (sports, positions in clubs/leadership). Get really good grades from now on and get good scores on your tests. Remember that schools see all of your scores even if thy technically only count the highest. So take a lot of practice tests. If you show improvement and have good grades and essays, they’ll eat you up.
