Dartmouth is my number one choice for college, both for the medical program and the location. An older friend of mine who has a better gpa was not accepted, and my counselor is discouraging. Here are my qualifications:

my GPA is bad. overall 3.8 (w) 3.6 (uw)
for junior year it is 3.67 (uw) and 4.17 (w)
I had a 4.0 my freshman year but I got a 3.5 continuously through my sophmore year.
I will have taken by the end of my senior year;
ap physics
ap ceramics
2 ap english classes
ap world and US history
& ap calculus.

I am aiming for and will acheive at least a 2200 on my SATs (will this make up for my GPA?)

EC:
I will be #1 singles (captain) next year on my tennis team, and I also am on the swim team (I was given coach's award my first year).
over junior summer I am traveling to Ghana with AFS, volunteering and staying with a family there
by the end of high school I will have taken 3 years of spanish, and if possible i want to do a gap year in spain
I am treasurer of my school's key club and I am starting a book club.
I do a variety of volunteer work and I am working on a video for my new town's green animal shelter for a volunteer project. I am also helping to raise money for them.
I have had an internship at a prestigeous hotel spa, and I have my own babysitting business. I plan to get a job if possible next year.
My classes and electives are well-rounded and I have taken the most advanced classes offered in my school.
I am also running for Senior class president this year, and I was rally commissioner my freshman year.
my college tuition is put away, and I will need no financial aid.

The best useable skill I have is my ability to communicate with people on a personal and honest level. I am trustworthy and enthusiastic, and I am sure I can write a great application essay, as well as have a smooth if not great interview. I am a snowboard enthusiast and I love the outdoors.
Dartmouth seems like the perfect place for me.

What else can I do to make up for my GPA? Any ideas? Do i have a chance? If not are there any other colleges you suggest?
