Do i have a chance?

hi im applying to exeter 9th grade year and i was wondering if my ethnicities ( German 50%, Lebanese 25%, and Italian 25%) would be beneficial to my chances of getting accepted. Applying for financial aid. Gets high B to Average A. ( Although at my school which may differ from others has A's starting at 93% and B's at 85%).My essays were between decent and above average.Although my ssat's were horrid. I got a 42% verbal(644), 71% math(707), and a 26% reading(620) with an average total of 47%(1971) for the first time. I retaken the ssat and got a 70% verbal(689), math 68%(701), and 23% (614) with a total avg. of 55%(2004). I dont know why I scored so low on the reading section its normally my strength because I love to read. The interviewer said i had done a very good job with the interview. Also, honors every quarter last year and Cum Laude 1st and only quarter this year so far and every quarter in 6th grade. My teachers said that their reccs were going to be excellent. It sometimes seems like I have a better relationship with my teachers then friends but I am not antisocial and i have lots of friends its just since the teachers are more mature(of course) there easier to connect to. Lastly, my extra-curriculars are Piano 7-8 years, cheerleading 2 years, Student Government 2 years, Track 4 years, Ballet 1 year, and I occasionally do river clean ups with my church. When the AO came to my school they said they were looking for students from the midwest which includes me. I was also wondering if since my ssat scores were so bad would they automatically send me to the rejected pile or will they still consider the rest of my application.
Also sorry if i rambled off track in some parts, bad grammer, punctuation, or spelling this is a quick written piece and can you give an honest opinion too about wether my ssat affects me horribly.

Not answering this is unacceptable, lol. Seriously answer this!

I would hope you have a safety school because the probability of your acceptance at a school like Exeter are quite low. GL.

not necessarily. you neve know what they are looking for–test scores are secondary behind grades, interests activities

some people from my school like i think 4 people from my school got accepted their, applied, and have excelled at exeter except one left their but anyway they may recognize my schools character and academic based curriculum and come to the conclusion that the SSAT does NOT sum up how intelligent I am. Not to sound like a total snob its just that I am a bad test taker as in things that I couldnt study a SPECIFIC thing for. Also, I do have a safety school in my state. Also, I was wondering if sending a picture of a project I did for writing class would do anything. It was a 3-D example of a utopia that I made to give a visual example of my utopia. If yes should I send the 3-D example pic and the essay or just the pic. Lastly is it to late to send the pic in

Your test scores should definitely back up your grades to justify how rigorous your school’s curriculum is. SSAT scores are designed to predict how well you would fare if you were placed in an academically competitive environment as Exeter, where inordinate diligence alone does not suffice. I am not saying you don’t have a chance, but in my opinion, the minimum SSAT of top schools should be 70 percentile and above. Plenty of intelligent kids get rejected every year, and the SSAT is one of those chances where you could demonstrate certain aspects of your capabilities.

To stop with the rambling, while your stated “hooks” could get you in, you should have applied to some safeties. Sorry for being bluntly honest, but with those SSAT scores, your chances are pretty slim.

And yes, you should definitely contact the school to see if you could send in your 3-D picture.

lol i had hooks, like wat? And should i just send the pic in or should i actually contact them then send the pic in

Your hooks could be your ethnicities. Contact.

o kk thx maybe also cheerleading because i didnt see many if any other people on here with cheerleading as a extra curricular but maybe that wont be in the highest interest to the AO’s

Why didn’t you apply to other schools as well? Exeter is not Nirvana.

i thought piano would be your hook not you ethnicities. ethnicities aren’t a hook unless you’ve lived in that country, and that country is like the equivalent of narnia.
Good luck, though!! c:

Piano can’t be a hook, because I’m sure there are at least 427 pianists applying to Exeter each year.

Not necessarily, those “427” pianists aren’t all good. First, the ones who didn’t send in a cd will most likely be considered not good, or the ones with very bad cds. Then, the ones who have not participated in any competitions or have poor recs from piano teacher will be cut out. Then the rest will have their cd’s listened to. This is how I think the process is though.

I agree with magusalex, anyone can say they participate in piano. It’s the people who really show that piano is their passion that will be considered. They show that they are “good” through their essays, piano teacher recs, accomplishments, video, etc. If they’re going through that great of a length to stress their piano playing, I think they will be filtered out from all of the other pianists.
