I wanted to give the best description I could so that people could try to chance me. This school has a very good reputation and the fact that I can get in-state tuition makes it even better. Do I have a chance? Please leave some feedback! Thanks!

def work on your SAT scores but other than that and being in state I’d say you look pretty good! question for you… what kind of class for dental assisting did you take for 3 1/4 years? is this a tech school or high school program? most dental assisting classes run about 3-6 months so I’m curious about that. Also in your dental “job” shadowing did you assist at all? pour models, sterilize instruments? I’d be sure to include some of the responsibilites included with your dental job. I’m a dental hygienist and my husband is a dentist. Both of my children have worked in our practice as well as numerous other high school age kids that have wanted to go Pre Dent. I would expand upon your job responsibilites in a hard copy resume. Much of what you are doing is technically impressive to a college admission board and I’m sure would make your resume and application much more interesting. Of course both of my kids chose to take the business school route so I don’t know much about going under grad to UD and heading to dental school from there but I’m vaguely familiar with the NJ process. Best of luck to you! If you have any specific questions in regard to the dental aspect please feel free to message me.

I do in fact go to a tech school (but academics are still a main focus at my school). While job shadowing, I mostly observe. My school has a dentist come in weekly and occasionally I will get the chance to assist in whatever procedure is being done. Thank you so much for your response. You gave me a lot of helpful information!

the tech schools in-state are notorious for low SAT scores, because the focus in academics is not college prep.
Math is usually the weaker side of the scoring.

The in-state acceptance process at UD is different than out of state. Out of state students are competing for a spot, in-state are not. In-state are judged on their own ability to succeed at UD, not against every applicant . Though getting a specific major is a different story.

Though you should take AP courses if they are offered.

Your guidance counselor at your school will be able to tell you if there are any issues getting into UD. UD works with all of the in-state high schools and you should be able

you are certainly on the right track! It’s so great to see someone so focused on what they want to do. I would also rec you look into Rutgers in NJ. I live about 10 mins away. Not the same kind of campus or feel that UD has but Rutgers now owns UMDNJ- (now Rutgers school of Dentistry) They do offer a program where you can enter dental school in your Jr year of college eliminating 2 years of tuition. I’m not sure what the qualifications are but it’s a great opportunity for those who want a direct admit to a dental school in an excellent dental program.

Thank you both for your feedback. I will be starting my senior in about 2 weeks and plan on taking the SAT and/or ACT at least one more time. I lived in NJ for a majority of my life so Rutgers is definetly an option. Thank you both for the feedback
