What are my chances?

Rutgers University-New Brunswick is one of my top choices and I just wanted to see if I would have any chance getting in (by the way, I'm out-of-state).
I wanted to give the best description I could so that people could try to chance me. I love everything this school has to offer and hope what I have is simply good enough. Please give me some feedback! Thanks.

Getting in with a 1580 as an in state student would be tough and being an OOS student makes that even more difficult. I would definitely retake the SATs and try to improve some of your sections. Being a large state school, your GPA and SAT scores are going to be the major deciding factor in admissions. You still have a few more opportunities to retake the SATs, it would definitely be worth the 47 dollars or however much it costs now.

Definitely retake the SATs, probably earliest one in October would be good. Sept 12 is the registration deadline.

Get some SAT books and practice. Get help if you are having problems in math: that seems to be an easier score to raise than reading. My sons retook their SATs in the fall of senior year and did much better than the previous spring.

Apply to SEBS as well as SAS. Apply by the end of October. Good luck!

(Hi Rhetorical how you doing.)

Yeah the math section scores can vary so much since every question can cost you 20-40 points on your score. Sometimes you just get a few problems that are tricky and you don’t realize it until you get your scores back. Try to focus on doing the easier questions as fast and efficiently as possible so you have more time for the harder ones at the end.

(And I’m doing well rualum. Although I can’t believe it took me until now to realize your user name is RU Alum haha)

yes, I graduated many decades ago. Good times.
