Do I have a chance

Hello people,
Well i’m currently entering the 8th grade, i’m applying for the 9th grade (fall 2016). I am female, hispanic. I am an athletic and arts student, as in I excel more in that area. My best subjects are history and english, worst are science and math. Anyways getting straight into this. I’m applying for boarding school, and i’m doing it for the RIGHT reasons (educational environment, experience, independence, and finding myself throughout my work.) I am the kind of student who wants to better than what they have, its my ambition. My grades range from 75-85% (C-B+), I know thats not what prep schools want. :frowning: and i’ve been trying to change my grades and do better, but its so hard. Ive been wanting to go to Boarding school since my brother got accepted in 10 years ago, its been my dream to get in but nows my chance. I’ve never spent so much time studying for test and writing essays in my life, I know i have the components that some schools want, but i don’t have the grades . For me learning in an environment that has a schedule that goes SCHOOL SCHOOL SCHOOL then relax will be better for me rather than going to public high school and coming home, doing homework then just doing whatever.

I play many sports like Varsity Volleyball, field hockey, lacrosse. As for arts: i sing, dance (major), write (on certain writers platforms with more than 2.1k views, and i do photography, but going into prep school im thinking about enrolling in ceramics.

Anyways i love to learn when it comes to history or ancient mythology and english class for debates, reading and just going further into meanings then what just scratches the surface.

Hi Acruz, welcome to CC! First off (even if it is a little late) you still have time to send in your first semester grades from 8th grade. If you grades are strong enough schools will be able to see you are on an upward trajectory. Also if your teacher recommendations say that you’re trying very hard, that will help a lot. Do you have an idea of some schools you are interested in? If you give me a list I can be a bit more specific in what certain schools look for. I would not worry too much, you seem like a smart girl with a bright girl with many talents. Try your hardest in 8th grade, your SSAT. The applications should not be too hard for you seeing you enjoy english, just be honest. If you have any questions feel free to ask  I myself just finished the process!

You also haven’t mentioned which schools you’d be interested in.
