Do I have a chance?

will be applying early to human ecology

3.7/3.9 GPA
currently 1340/2000....but, i can not explain how nervous i was, i had an all out panic attack......when i take it in june i should get 21-22

1 AP sophmore year (Euro)
3 APs Junior year (Composition, Physics, US)
4 APs Senior year (Lit, Government, Environmental, AB calc)

all other classes have been honors

i also come from a highly competitive school

i know these number aren't great however i have very good extra cirriculars...
founded a club freshmen year and have been president since (Political Science Club)...it is now a steady club with a solid membership and is also the umbrella club of two others...i also have done 100+ hours of community service in the political field and have interned on local political campaigns

i'm a grade officer

member of national honor society, latin honor society, was in french honor society (before i dropped and switched to latin), stock market club, one varsity sport

i also placed 8th in the country (tied with 10000 other kids probably) on the national french exam in 9th grade

received gold medal in national latin exam this year, summa cum laude

i also will really tie my high school experiences with the club i formed and my political involvement with the PAM major

oh yeah also i'm in-state, if that matters

If you bring up your SAT's you should have a decent shot, but with a 1340/2400, admission would be extremely unlikely.

I mean, SAT's aren't everything, but scores that low would make it very difficult to get in without a major hook.

If you're talking about 1340/2400, you have no shot. If it's 1340/1600, then you should raise that to increase your chances.

nooo...

its a 1340 out of 1600
and a 2000 out of 2400

that's what i was saying

another unclear stat also is when i said 3.7/3.9 thats unweighted vs weighted

what's the average gpa for cornell approximately also?

Here's my favorite college site to look stuff up...http://apps.collegeboard.com/search/CollegeDetail.jsp?collegeId=15

i see that i'm already in the middle 50% on the SATs even with my personal below average performance.....but i think that im below the average on gpa...i'm hoping that my extra cirriculars and better SAT scores in june will compensate for that however...

other things about my stats i left out...

my gpa has increased gradually every year

i come from a highly competitive and prestigious public school

Those last couple things are very important. Just remember that that site doesn't pick out each school within Cornell and show you the averages and that it's not completely updated (as the stats get higher and higher with each year) so....

Oh yes and also remember that there are a TON of other people applying with similar records and you want to stand out. Also with a 24% acceptance rate (sure to get smaller through the years) it means that less than every 1 in 4 qualified applicants will be accepted. Tough odds...

GPA wise....am i that far below the average?

3.7 isn't that bad...at least it wouldn't be your downfall...

well let's hope that admissions feels that way...
