Have 3 close close friends who went into UPENN last year

Oh and I'm thinking of applying as Early Decision in Engineering school
and I would love to try for Jerome Fisher Program but I would be honored to be in UPENN engineering school
So please... help me rate me honestly :) thank you

Well your SATs (and subject tests) and APs are certainly excellent. EC’s look good too. The only thing I would be concerned about is your GPA, even though you are taking many APs. I mean it has an upward trend, which is good (and hopefully that will continue through senior year).

If you weren’t from a “top 7 in the world” school, I would probably say your chances tanked because of your gpa. However, perhaps class rank would then be a better statistic to look at. If, for example, you’re in the top 10% and your school sends the top 20% to ivies / top colleges, then you have a pretty good chance. But, if you’re in the top 25 and school sends top 5-10, then maybe not so much. Do you have any info like that?

class rank would help offset his gpa (if theres no official rank, ask your counsellor person to write about your relative standing in the common app). I wouldn’t say it makes you tank, but it is a minus so hopefully theres a good reason for that.

honestly though, if like above poster said your school sends top 5-10 to ivies and you’re in the top 25, don’t count yourself out yet. GPA can only really kill you if it shows you haven’t been trying. I know alot of schools where the top 10 students (gpa wise) don’t get in anywhere but a number of students with lower ranks do. Its the whole package that counts so don’t be discouraged :D.

for your ec’s, while they aren’t stellar, they aren’t bad either esp. if you’re considering engineering. I’m more worried about the lack of any prizes etc (tbh, that top 25% for the CEMC competitions is pretty easy). I would either focus on your passion for the subject alot in the essays (instead of telling more about the type of person you are) or try to get some more distinctions in the area you’re interested in :D.
