I'm interested in McGill and I think I could get in, but was just wondering if it is almost a sure thing or not. I'm a junior who will be applying next year.

SAT: 690 R, 680 M, 670 W (2040) Re-taking in May
PSAT: 214
GPA: weighted 4.145
APs: soph. US history (5)
jun. European History, Language and Composition
sen. Spanish 4, World Literature, Psychology, Calculus

Does McGill take ECs into account? I'm on varsity tennis and have done community service and am in some clubs and write for the school newspaper which I will be editor of next year.

Also, are McGill, UBC, and U of T almost equally selective?

McGill only cares about your GPA, an board scores. I don't know about your SAT scores, I guess they like academic rigor (but don't all).

Are you a sure thing? Who the hell knows. I doubt anyone could tell you that. I wouldn't say make McGill your safety school, but I don't see why it wouldn't be your match. I got in with a 3.79/4.0 (5.14/5.0), 1 completed AP (AP photo), a really lazy senior schedule, and a somewhat rigorous transcript (an all-honors science track, and a mix of honors and not honors math classes).

Bottom of the line, I think your a match, but don't use these boards to mentally masturbate yourself...it's a waste of time. Talk to your college counselor; every year is different, and you can't account on the previous years medians (take Emory for example, this years applicant pool blew last years pool out of the water). You'll be competing against your peers, not against those of us who have already gotten in.

Good luck with the college application process. Don't worry too much about it. You'll end up where you end up, and you'll be happy where you end up (this advice is especially important with Ivy admissions). College admissions are a crap shoot (hell I got wait-listed at Penn, and all my admissions factors pointed towards rejection).

ITS ALL A CRAP-SHOOT (especially when the class sizes are so small) McGill Included.

/end rant

//good luck
