I’m 23 and plan on getting an MBA in a couple years or so.
Here is my Academic and Professional profile:
-Econ Major U-grad at an Ivy Equivalent (one of Stanford, MIT, UChicago, Duke, Caltech) with 3.2 GPA [think this is the weakest point of my app]
-Quant Masters Degree from a top Southeastern public in a hot field – 3.75 GPA here
-GMAT: 800 Quant, 730 Verbal (770 Overall), 5.0 AW
-Will have worked as a Data Analyst at a name-brand F500 Company for 2-3 years by time of application
-Will have top recs from bosses at work
Volunteer Work:
-Volunteer currently as an Assistant Scoutmaster in my former boy scout troop
-Volunteer currently as a trumpet and piano player regularly at my church ensemble on weekends/evenings
-Did an Eagle Scout project that involved major construction planning (Since I was in HS, don’t think this will count for anything…though this is the one I’m most proud of)
Future Goals:
-Want to use my data analytics skills in management consulting (like Mckinsey, Bain, BCG)
-Ultimately want to run my own startup that does data analytics consulting for small/mid-sized companies by age 35 or so (or possibly head up operational strategy at a private equity company)
Here’s my MBA list:
Stanford
Harvard
Wharton
MIT Sloan
Chicago Booth
Columbia
Dartmouth Tuck
UMich
UCLA
Cornell
Northwestern
I understand my list is top-heavy, but I’ve heard repeatedly that getting an MBA is only worth it from a top institution. So (at the expense of sounding a little snobby) I don’t plan on applying elsewhere.
