Do I have a shot at any Ivies/Duke?

GPA (unweighted) 3.8something
Not sure about weighted GPA, but definitely above 4.00.
ACT: 34 (36E 32M 35R 33S)

APs: World History (4), US History (5), Bio (4).
I'm taking the remaining three AP classes my school has to offer in my senior year. I've taken the most rigorous courses my small school has to offer.
SAT II: Planning to take US History and Bio E/M in October, looking to make above 750 on both.

ECs:
-- Varsity Soccer for 3 years. Named an all-division player twice, Named my school's Defensive MVP twice. Our team won the state championship once and reached semifinals once.
-- Quiz Bowl for 2 years (Junior year being my first year, Senior year being my second and last.) Was on the A-team, our school won the State Championship and traveled to Washington DC to compete in the National History Bowl, where we advanced once before being destroyed.
-- On my city's travel soccer team for 4 years
-- Varsity Track for 2 years
-- Varsity Cross Country for 2 years
-- Member of my city's Mayor's Youth Leadership Council for 2 years (We plan community service projects, talk about social issues, attend city council meetings, etc.)
-- Guitar lessons for 4 years. Have played in restaurants for money.
-- I work summers at my dad's clinic.
-- Member of National Honors Society

I'm South Asian from Mississippi.

I'm mostly afraid that my extracurrics aren't strong enough/don't set me apart. I only have about 20 hours of community service, so I won't be listing that on my app. I can't remember if I've ever had any leadership positions. If everything goes well I should be captain of Quiz Bowl and Varsity Soccer my senior year, but neither is guaranteed.

Oh and my intended major is Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and I'll be on a pre-med track.

I'd much rather attend schools like USC, UCLA, Tulane, Emory, and other schools of that caliber on a scholarship, so I'd like to know if I have a shot at any scholarships there too.

Sorry if this is unorganized in any way, I'm new here. Thanks!

EDIT: Also is Georgetown a reach? JHU? Can anyone suggest matches?

Can you get recruited by soccer? Seem like a strong player. Make sure you become leader of Quiz Bowl and Soccer.
You will get into USC/UCLA/Tulane/Emory but not strong enough for scholarships though.
HYPSM are high reaches (they are for almost everybody)
Your great candidate for Duke, Penn, Cornell, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Brown, Northwestern
what kind of a campus, size, do you want?
chance me-http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1670747-improving-chances.html#latest</a></p>

I’m fine with any campus size. I guess USC would have what I want most (urban, not as huge as UCLA but definitely not small) but I’ll be fine at a smaller suburban school like Emory too.
I’ve been working on soccer this summer thanks to soccer frenzy induced by the World Cup but I have no idea if I have what it takes to be recruited. I can probably make Emory’s team but they’re DIII so I don’t know if it would help me much scholarship-wise. Also USC doesn’t have a men’s soccer team. Will continue to work on soccer but won’t bank on it.
I’m surprised you think I have a chance at Duke but I’ll add Duke to my list. Thanks.

You have a chance at any college but HYPSM. So yes if Duke is your #1 go ED
chance back please- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1670747-improving-chances.html#latest</a></p>

Bump. More opinions would be greatly appreciated

CHANCE ME & I’LL CHANCE YOU BACK!

I would seriously consider doing some research with your local univeristy professors. Also, USC is great if you are national merit finalist. BTW, why didn’t you do much freshmen year?

can I get a chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1670747-improving-chances.html#latest</a></p>

I wouldn’t really know how to get in touch with any community college staff for research. Most of the “prestigious” things around here (shadowing engineers, being a surgeon’s aid) usually ends up being filled by someone from the huge public school in town. The staff for that school has tons of community connections
I ran cross country, played city league soccer, and played basketball freshman year. I didn’t list bball because I was just on JV. ( every freshman was) we won the JV state championship though. I also didn’t really know much about the admissions process back then so I didn’t do as much a I should have

You have a shot at the ivies and Duke. Which ivies? Lol please don’t tell me you want to apply to them all.

You should take 3 SAT II’s for Georgetown.

For best chances at Georgetown and Ivy league schools, try to get an 800 on Math II. Then, I suggest one science and one humanity. Have your science be around 770-800. The other (humanity) can be anywhere from 750 up. Keep in mind if all of this doesn’t happen, it won’t be the end of the world. This will just help you A LOT.

Your ACT is very strong, but your Math score is low relative to your other scores.

For these schools, your GPA is a little low. What non-A grades did you receive and in which class, in which years?

Your EC’s are very eh. I don’t see much dedicated commitment in any field.

Having said this, you still have a good chance.

I would call UCLA, Tulane, USC, and Emory matches. I think you’d have a chance @ Tulane for aid. USC emphasizes EC’s for scholarships so I don’t think that will happen.

I got into UCLA, Tulane, USC, Emory, Duke, and a few ivies (Dmouth and Penn-- where I’m going-- and was wled by Columbia). If you want help at all or just want to know some of my stats, message me.

Yea I was thinking Brown, Cornell, Penn, etc. Won’t bother with HYPS.

I was considering taking Math II just for Georgetown, giving me three SAT IIs. I’ll definitely consider what you suggested regarding the SAT IIs. My math skills aren’t as bad as they look, I just performed poorly on that ACT section.

Received my B grades in Sophomore year: I lost interest in school, was more into girls and partying. Really had nothing to do with subject/class difficulty. Also got a B this past year in English, but only one guy in our grade (barely) averaged an A in that class. Let’s hope that Sophomoron year won’t come back and bite me.

Anyways, thanks. I needed someone to tell me my ECs were crap so I wouldn’t suspect them of sugarcoating or advertising their own thread. I’ll PM you about scholarships/stats later. I appreciate it.

Bump.
