Do I have a shot at NYU with legacy??

My dad went to NYU for medical school, and my mom went there for her graduate degree. My Uncle also went to NYU for Grad school. My grades are a bit low now (I am a sophomore) , but my PSAT score is quite good. My EC’s are also really impressive and show dedication. I will not need financial aid if that matters. Do I need amazing grades to get in, or will my legacy status and ECS be enough to put me over the edge? With average grades sophomore year, do i really have a shot?
Thanks

Similar thing is happening with me at BC. Good EC’s, test scores, essays, and legacy/connections, but lower than expected GPA. I wouldn’t be surprised either way, and I think same goes to you. Coin flip.

At NYU, I’m pretty sure that unless your last name is Tisch or Stern legacy does very little  It might help, but I wouldn’t count on it to significantly sway admissions decision. But! Strong ECs and a strong SAT can significantly help a low GPA. Also, you have two more years of high school–focus on good grades Junior year, keeping the ECs strong, and studying for the SAT (:
