Really desperate for NYU lower gpa

Hey so it's always been a dream of mine to get into New York University but there has been so much going on for me this year (junior year) that my chances might be gone.

Gpa: 3.26
Sat: 2060 but I took it again and will update with the new score. I feel like I did much better.
Legacy : uncle and cousin attended nyu (uncle for graduate school)
Extra curriculars:
- much volunteer work in India with education systems and schools
-volunteer at a science center (like a museum) 100+ hours
-key club and breast cancer charity for a year
-exec leader(secretary) of French honors society
-red cross for a year
-odyssey of the mind (many awards)
-soup kitchen volunteer for the past 4 years
-attended a special art school for two years. (Sponsored by my high school)
-have won two awards in first place for art
-winner of piano competitions and currently at the highest level of mastery of the piano
-member of science league

I also would apply early decision to NYU.

Also, recommendations will not be a problem and I had a major surgery this year and had to stay out of school for a very long time on and off (why my gpa completely sucks) and my guidance counseler said he can send an email explaining this situation to th school.

I hope to apply to the department of arts and sciences .. Also are there any other suggestions of how I can increase my chances(I have an upper hand in writing with a perfect score on the sat essay and 780 in writing altogether, the application essay should be fine. ) or any other schools you can suggest?

My sister attends Georgetown and I have a triple legacy at Vanderbilt.

Please help guys is NYU possible?

I forgot to mention my courses for senior year :

AP government
AP French
AP Lang comp
Anatomy and physiology
Trig-1

My weighted gpa Is a 4.2

Apply to Vanderbilt if you have a triple legacy, they take legacy more serious than NYU. And NYU probably won’t take cousins/Uncles as legacy. Some don’t even take grandparents, only parents. Your GPA will hurt you but if explained well(maybe even in your essay) NYU could be a low reach/high match for you! Good luck! Chance me too?

Do you have a legitimate reason (other than laziness) why your GPA is so low? If there is some extenuating circumstance, colleges will probably look at that. If not, then it will hurt a lot.

Even with Triple Legacy, Vanderbilt would still be a reach. Your SAT is below their average, as is your GPA (obviously).

The only thing would be that I had a health problem and had a very erratic attendance junior year

Vanderbilt: Reach
Georgetown: Reach
NYU ED: Reach (but lower than Vanderbilt)

Is there anything I can do to help my chances? Ill be entering my senior year In the fall so I guess there’s not much I can do to my gpa … Is it true that if you’re doing early decision none of your senior year grades are incorporated?

Sat score update: 2120
