I have a 3.0uw gpa with a serious upward trend (2.6, 2.9, 3.7). My mid year grades were great and I got a 3.7 again last semester. I have a 31 ACT as well. I’m OOS and I applied to LSA. Is there any way I could get in? I’ve expressed TONS of interest in UM.
unfortunately your chances are like 1% because gpa is the most important for umich and your gpa is way below their 3.87 average. as an out of state applicant, it’s going to be much more competitive and many in state applicants were deferred with 31 act and 3.83 gpa so definitely look at other options. a person with a 36 act and 3.5 gpa was rejected from my school last year. also, umich is very expensive for out of state and there are other great options for cheaper price. unless, you are a recruited athlete, definitely look at other options.
@Eeeee127 i am
but definitely look into transferring to umich as an option! your upward trend looks great and if you can keep up that gpa in college you can transfer into umich. i know many people who couldn’t get into umich freshmen year and transferred in later.
@Eeeee127 do you think if I got like a 3.7+ in my first semester I could get accepted for next fall?
a 3.7 semester gpa is still below the overall 3.87 average and your overall um gpa is more important. as an oos student, you are going to want to have at least a 3.9 overall gpa, not just semester. even for an in state student, a 3.7 semester gpa is not high enough.
@Eeeee127 I meant in college
Yes, you would have a strong chance as a transfer student if you maintained a 3.7+ during your first semester/year of college.
