Do I have a shot?

JHU is my top choice, but I don't know if I have a chance at all for a Biology major even if I apply ED. I know that my academic standing is mediocre, but I hope to improve them during my senior year. (and I don't know if this helps much, but I go to a rigorous blue-ribbon school).

Any honest advice/input will be greatly appreciated :)

People do get admitted with grades and SAT’s such as yours so, yes, you have a shot but, let’s face it, it will be a reach. A very strong essay and stellar recommendations will help immensely, as will a strong showing of interest such as applying ED. But make sure that you apply to other schools where you are more of a match. For example, since you indicate that you go to school in the Boston area, a school such as Brandeis is very strong in biology and is a good school overall but is rather easier to gain admission to than Hopkins. University of Rochester is another one. Good luck.

If you want to show grade deflation at a tough school, get your SAT up. That’s the best thing you can do.
