Do I have a Shot?

Hi guys! I am currently a junior…with a not-so-desirable GPA. My school is quite competitive, and I wasn’t even top 10% (so no auto-acceptance into UT :/); I was roughly top 20%…yeah, terrible, I know. Not gonna lie, I slacked off a lot in the past years of high school.

I did, however, do fairly well on my SAT (2110; 780 M, 700 CR) and ACT (34). I have taken rigorous courses in school, filling up my schedule with APs (in which I got screwed over due to my lazy self), and I have also been a year ahead in math than my peers. I recently took the AP Calculus BC exam, and I am confident I got a 4 or 5. Besides the strict curriculum, I have been a member of various clubs and extracurricular organizations including, but not limited to: my school band, Math Club, Computer Science Contesting, French Club, NHS, and more. I have also participated and done quite well in science fair, advancing to the State level more than once.

Also, alongside these academic failures/triumphs, I have volunteered 100+ hours, and have been part of multiple volunteer organizations. This summer I will be getting a job as well.

I live in Texas, and some colleges I would REALLY like to get into are UT, Rice, and U of Chicago.

Now Chicago is out of the question due to my trash performance in school, but I was wondering if I have a shot at UT and/or Rice?? I would like to major in Bio-medical Engineering, but am flexible with some others as well.

If there are any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask, and I appreciate all feedback. Thanks!!

you realize it’s impossible to chance you if you dont put your GPA right? percentiles are different for every school, and someone’s top 10% grade may be a top 20% grade somewhere else. come back with your gpa (weighted and unweighted) and it’ll be better for us to chance you.

I’m not entirely sure what my unweighted GPA would be (sorry I’m such a noob to all this!), but my weighted, cumulative GPA as of now is roughly a 4.0, with a 5.0 being the highest possible to be achieved.
