I am a senior in high school and I have realized a few things about my self in recent weeks/months. First, I realized that when I read something, a book/poem for English class for example, I could go through the whole page/poem and not retain a thing. Like I would have no idea what I read. Secondly, as I am a senior, I am taking various AP classes. Sometimes when I am about to study/prep for subject, I instead start pacing around my house and thinking about stuff completely outside of the AP subject that I should be studying for. Do I have ADHD, or a bad case of senioritis? I feel like this could be senioritis as I have been accepted to multiple schools. I can’t say that I have a lot of motivation to study for my AP tests but I still believe that they are important. However, me reading something and not retaining anything is something that has been going on for sometime now. This tendency was definitley an obstacle that I had to overcome on the SAT and I’m not sure if I did overcome it because reading was my lowest score of my SAT.
Lots of people read and don’t have a clue about what they read. Lots of people aren’t ready to study or complete assignments and need to relax or get their act together. There is too little evidence of ADHD. Sounds more like life to delay getting down to work and means profient time management is important.
The only reason I’d be concerned is if you see a decline in grades. ADHD is a disorder, and I am sure that no one on here can diagnose you based off of this paragraph.
Have these symptoms been persistent other than just this semester/ year? Lack of motivation could be several things, and do not necessarily indicate ADHD. If you have a hard time filtering information, or prioritizing items, that sounds more like ADHD. I recommend you check out a youtube channel called “How to ADHD” and they have a decent video explaining symptoms. If you feel like you do definitely talk to your doctor.
