Im a sophomore at a high school, and i am really interested in applying to Cornell. Unfortunately, I had one B in Accl. Bio [weighted class] last year, and I have two Bs in Accl. Chem. and AP US History [both weighted], but the major thing I am worried about is that I have a C in Accl. Alg II [also weighted]. I wish to know that, if I could pull my grades up Junior year, is there still a possibility that Cornell would accept me? I have done Winter AND Spring Track and Field for both freshman and sophomore year, but I am certainly not good at it, though I am dedicated to it. I am also involved in my school's Cooking Club and i volunteer with LINK, a non profit senior citizen aid organization. I just really wish to know if there is any thing I can do to get into Cornell. I still have all of junior and senior year to improve. Will that one C ruin all my chances?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

I have two B’s on my transcript, both of them in AP stat. I don’t know about the C though. I think what matters more is that you are challenging yourself with accelerated classes. I think its too early to tell whether you have shot or not. No SAT’s?

Not necessarily. We all have one bad marking period so you can probably pull it up. Though Sophmore year is rather crucial, you can always outperform in the important junior year.
Not that we know anything of SAT/ACTs, EC’s, or your essays as well.

Just work hard and everything will turn out fine.

Well, my C is not just the marking period, it is the entire year, final grade C. And i haven’t taken SATs yet. I will take my PreSATs this september. Should I wait till then and see how I do? If my SAT scores and Junior year grades are high enough, would I still have a chance?
