Im a sophomore at a high school, and i am really interested in applying to Cornell. Unfortunately, I had one B in Accl. Bio [weighted class] last year, and I have two Bs in Accl. Chem. and AP US History [both weighted], but the major thing I am worried about is that I have a C in Accl. Alg II [also weighted]. I wish to know that, if I could pull my grades up Junior year, is there still a possibility that Cornell would accept me? I have done Winter AND Spring Track and Field for both freshman and sophomore year, but I am certainly not good at it, though I am dedicated to it. I am also involved in my school's Cooking Club and i volunteer with LINK, a non profit senior citizen aid organization. I just really wish to know if there is any thing I can do to get into Cornell. I still have all of junior and senior year to improve. Will that one C ruin all my chances?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

people get in with a C or two, but it does make things more difficult. Work for straight A’s Junior year and keep it up thru decision time. Work hard for those SAT scores and you’ll be in good shape. If you continue with B’s and C’s it’s difficult to get in, though, but you are in difficult courses. Your grades so far have certainly not ruined you. Write good essays, tell why Cornell is the place for you and do what I said before and you’ll have a good shot, though nobody can ever say who will get in or not.
