I feel like if you improve your stats the slightest but and write great essays, you have a great shot! Your essays will b every important though, since I feel like you will need it to differentiate yourself from everyone else.
My essays are coming along very well and I believe that it will be one of my stronger areas (I am focusing on my struggles with having Autism and Dyslexia and how my educational experiences made me want to help the other young students). Thank you for your reply
Sorry about those conditions, are they still present?
And are you considering ED or RD to Dartmouth
I will be applying RD (Regular). These diagnosis, while they still effect me and are present, do not define who I am or will become. I will however, most likely, continue with my IEP in college, which allows things like extra time on writing and some other stuff. Thanks for your reply
You know that Dartmouth doesn’t have an undergraduate education major, just a minor, right? (You would still have to go to grad school to get a teaching credential.)
If you definitely want an education major at an elite private U, maybe look at Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and/or WashU.
But if you want to, for example, get an undergraduate math degree with an education minor and then pursue a grad-level credential program in order to teach math, then Dartmouth could be a fine reach school. Getting in is not a slam-dunk but you have a chance. Have you visited to confirm that you like the “vibe” and social environment there?
AFfect v EFfect…
“Dartmouth’s education programs are extremely good and very well renowned which is what drew me to it.”
Really? b/c their undergraduate program is only a minor. I would have thought that places like Pitzer, Colorado College, Vassar, Vanderbilt would have been better selective-level choices.
This is true. But Dartmouth’s education program works very well as a minor since I would be incorporating it with another field (economics or policy writing type stuff) and this would allow me to have a larger career outlook later down the line if I deside to change careers (as WSO keeps cramming down my throat - it is all about the exit opps … WSO is a story for a different thread though so I digress)
(I am also applying to Vandy and I will definitely get at least a masters, and most likely a PhD as well)
If you’re interested in Vandy’s education grad programs, you might also look at Sewanee, as they have a collaboration that streamlines the path from undergrad at Sewanee into the education masters/credential program at Vandy.

Any chance you can get involved more with young kids now? The Housing experience is good, but a little more? Or something else you’ve done with them that perhaps you didn’t mention here.
@aquapt I did look into Sewanee, but I just didn’t really connect with the school. Beautiful campus and great alumni network though.
@lookingforward I wish I did more with children, but the only other thing that I have done is some tutoring. The tutoring was so inconsistent (for one unit, I would be helping three peers, then the next unit no one) that I don’t know how I include that in the application.
