Hi everyone, I’m applying for engineering. I am a white male from NC. I have a UW GPA of 3.86, and a WGPA of 4.30. I have taken 9 AP’s. This year I am taking Calc AB and Chem which I know are important for engineering. My sat score is 1400 with a 700 on both math and reading. I participated in a sport for all 4 years and got all conference twice. I also play tournaments for that sports year round. I am in NHS and have a done a little volunteering. With all that being said, do I have a good chance? Thanks
Clemson looks primarily at grades, course rigor, class rank, and test scores. You are slightly above the 75th percentile for reading and slightly below for math. 90% of those admired have GPAs above 3.75
So it seems like you have a good chance for admission assuming a good class rank. I don’t know if you would qualify for merit scholarships. Rank really matters.
As an OOS applicant you would be better off with a higher SAT score. For OOS they care about stats more than the full package. If you love Clemson, take every practice test you can find and figure out how to pull up your SAT to over 1500. Or prep for the ACT and practice your heart out and see if you can maybe do better with that test - many students are better on one over the other, especially if time is an issue. Good luck to you!
