Do I Have Any Chance of Admission at UC Berkeley?

I plan on applying this fall as a transfer for fall 2016 admissions. I want to major in comparative literature.

Here are my stats:

3.85 gpa
Vice President of English club at my CCC
Volunteer at a women’s shelter
Editor of my college’s newspaper
Work as assistant at law firm
Member of Phi Theta Kappa honors society

I think I will have 32 semester units by the end of the summer. The thing is, my classes have been kind of spread out. I took 2 classes in high school for college credit, I took 4 classes this past fall, and I only took 2 in the spring. I am catching up by taking two classes this summer. I also haven’t taken math or bio yet! I’m taking stats this fall, but I’m worried a little about this.

Do I have any chance at all? I feel like I would probably need a higher gpa, right?

Will you have 60 units completed by the end of spring 2016?

I think @lindyk8 is the perfect person to answer this

Yes, I definitely will.

Good. I’d say a pretty good chance, but it is really hard to tell with Cal.

Awesome, thanks!!

You have a good chance. Comparative literature isn’t impacted. Make sure you write good personal statements (as I’m sure you will as a literature major).

Make sure you have IGETC (or breadth) completed, and be sure to satisfy the language requirement. If the prereq’s for your major at Cal are available at your college, be sure to take them. If you have IGETC/breadth, prereq’s completed, and maintain a high GPA, you’re most likely in.

edit: Unrelated, but what’s your favorite book/author?

You have a pretty good chance of getting in in my opinion.

Comparative literature is in the Humanities Division at Cal, and there, they admit students by division and not by major.

According to this^, about 47.6% got in last year into the Humanities Division. I applied to a major in the humanities division with a slightly lower GPA and less impressive ECs than you did and I got in. You can do it.
