So do I have any chance at W&L?

It is way too facile to tell mike22 that he has a chance. Although standardized test scores certainly aren't everything, even a brief review of W&L's 2005 common data set suggests that mike22's chances of admission are very slim indeed.

In 2005, the middle 50 per cent of critical reading scores at W&L was 660-730 and the middle 50 per cent of math scores was 660-720; the middle 50 per cent of combined scores was 1340-1430. Only 4 per cent of entering students had critical reading scores below 600, and only 3 per cent of entering students had math scores below 600. Even a 130 point increase in mike22's math score would not really be competitive in W&L's applicant pool.

I agree with #3 for the most part. However, the beauty of a small LAC like W&L is that the admissions staff truly seems to look at the applicant as a whole candidate way beyond GPA/SAT.

perhaps this candidate would get more input if he would explain in great detail why he wants to attend WLU so badly. I think a borderline candidate who can explain the why stands a better shot than a standard profile candidate who is nonchalant about admission.

I realy cant say why I want to attend W&L so bady. I was there for 4 weeks for their summer program and I feel that the overall atmospere fits me well. The academics seem great and there is alot of history and tradition. Also, I am attracted to the student maintained honor system, which seems to be unique to the school. Would applying ed help to show interest and help in admissions?

unless you have overcome some ridiculous disease or family crisis, i highly doubt you'd be admitted. musictoad, he isn't really a boarderline applicant. he's significantly below all the averages.

for you to stand a chance with your gpa, your sats are going to have to be at or above the 75%ile most likely. good luck with that.
