I want to get into the Cornell college of Arts and Sciences. I'm applying RD, my stats are:

SAT: 1370 (710M/660V)
Taking SATII: Math iic, writing, chemistry in Dec.
GPA: 3.38 (177/379)
Took the most challenging courses
bad EC's:
4 years varsity tennis
Tutored elementary kids
Physics club
band 9th, 10th
Summer volunteer work
DECA

So, what do you think my chances are (in percentages)? Be honest. Thanks.

i dont think you have much of a chance with those grades and that rank! How were you APs.... maybe that can atone. Anyway, check out the thread about the girls in Cornell; Rumor has it that they're not ho; Maybe you should apply elsewhere. :)

Thanks for replying. What if i do really well on my SAT II chem test, say 750+, will that improve my chances any? I am planning to major in biochemistry.

i think it'll help but not as much as u think it will, a 750+ is about 88% and above... there's still 12% that are better, and seeing as how good their biochem program is, lots of 800 are most likely applying as well :( sorry

My school is not really that competitive, but it is probably a top public school in Washington. We always send lots of kids to the ivies and always has lots of national merit scholarship semifinalists.

Agreed. Sorry man. My advice is if you want to be cornell more than anything, you are going to have to transfer in after getting great (3.6+) grades in college.

Although your stats are lower than most applicants, there are always exceptions if you have what they're looking for. You might as well just apply, it can't hurt.

All I have to say is...you never know. Your rank might really hurt you, but if you fill a niche that cornell is looking for, you just might get in. I'm not trying to say that your chances are fabulous, but don't rule it out just yet...
